Perform bulk changes in concepts

termSpace allows the simplification of repetitive authoring tasks by allowing to run bulk operations over lists of concepts. Each operation has an individual implementation and a different set of requirements.

Step-by-step guide

The tool used for bulk changes is the "List editor":

  1. Using search, queries of any other of the standard features, put the concepts that will be modified in bulk in the briefcase:
  2. Select the List Editor button on the main project page. Depending on the permissions configuration on the project these may not be visible, contact a supervisor if you don't see the option.

  3. Synchronize the content of the list editor with the Briefcase, the list editor will be emptied and all the content of the briefcase will be copied into the list editor:
  4. Select "Bulk transformers", and one of the transformers, for this example we are going to select "Search & Replace"
  5. Enter the Search and Replace parameters, consider that the search is case sensitive, and select in which type of description the operation should be performed. For example, let's replace all occurrences of "Weber" for "Webber", in all FSNs and Synonyms. Only the descriptions that are part of the Target Module and used in the Target language Refset will be affected.
  6. Click on "Transform" and a bulk change job will be created. A panel will open showing the last jobs, the job will start running soon and the list will be updated when is ready:
  7. When the bulk job is ready, click on the row and the results will be displayed below:
  8. The results can either be "OK" for concepts changes with no issue, "No changes" for concepts that do not match criteria within the selected module and language, and "Error' for the ones where the change creates an alert.

All transformers will have different parameters and criteria, the example of Search & Replace serves as a general guide of the process.
