Version 1

termSpace supports the standard refset types described in the SNOMED CT International release documentation and related specifications. However, there are situations that require the distribution of additional content using the extensibility mechanism by adding new reference set types.

The process required to describe a new reference set type include:

  1. The creation of a new extension concept that represents the reference set type or structure
  2. The addition of one or more extension concepts that would represent the additional attributes contained in the refset structure. These attributes will be used to publish the Refset Descriptor Reference set members that will inform users about the structure of the set.
  3. The configuration of the new reference set pattern in the Administration panel, associating each additional attribute (existing, or created in the previous step) with the corresponding datatype it will contain.
  4. After completing the configuration, the new refset pattern will be available as a custom refset type when creating new refsets in the Asset library.

Step-by-step instructions:

A custom refset is used when a new refset type is needed, i.e, not already available as the simple map or simple refset types.

1 Create a new Refset type concept as a child of Reference set (foundation metadata concept).

2 If needed, create the new attribute/s required for the new Refset type.

3 In ADMIN PANEL, configure the new refset type.

3.1 From the left panel,  select Refset Patterns. Refsets configuration screen will be displayed in the right panel.

3.2  Go to the bottom of the refsets configuration panel and click on  to add a refset type configuration. A new refset configuration box will be added:

3.3 Click on select button next to the Type field, a modal window will display the list of refset types. Find the new reset type, click on it and then on select button to confirm.

3.4. Into the columns box, click on to add a refset attribute. An inner box to configure the attribute will display:

3.5 Click on select button next to Attribute Description field. A modal window will display the list of available attributes types, follow the same steps described in 3.3 to select an attribute.

3.6 Fill the attribute type field. The modal window will display available data types for attributes.

3.7 Click on  to add other attributes if needed and repeat steps 3.5 and 3.6.

3.8 Once the configuration is finished, click on at the bottom of the page.

4 In ASSET LIBRARY, authored Refset, create a Refset selecting the new custom refset type.

The refset created will include the attributes configured for the custom Refset type:

5 If the custom refset is has more than one target attribute to fill, the edits on each member are done in a member editor panel.
